In honor of national Adopt-a-Shelter-Dog Month, we asked the ASPCA—the country’s first animal welfare organization ever—what feeds get them excited about pet adoption.
For nearly 150 years, our mission has been to prevent animal cruelty in the United States. We’re constantly striving to help more animals in need across the country, so this month is our first-ever Big Love Campaign at our adoption center in New York City—all dogs over 30 pounds will have their weight subtracted from their adoption fee. We are also encouraging pet lovers from all over the country to tell us why they love big dogs and share a photo on social media at aspca.org/BigLove.
We use Instagram to spread our own messages and to support friends doing a great job of fighting animal cruelty. These are the people in our ever-growing digital community. We work together in real time to spreading the word about the importance of adoption and the amazing bond between people and animals.
Oh, and if you’re one of our New York friends, come celebrate with us: this Thursday, October 15th, is our annual Young Friends Benefit which raises awareness for our life-saving work. Sutton Foster (@suttonlenore) and Irina Shayk (@irinashayk) are hosting, and May Kwok (@iamamayzing) is on music duty. Details and tickets ataspcayoungfriends.org.
