Portofino Social City Guide

The Italian beach town has everything you could ever want: ocean views, unlimited pasta options, and even the approval of the Kardashian family, two of whom, Kris and Kourtney, vacationed there just last week. (In fact, legend has it that one member of The Gramlist team might’ve even gotten bodychecked by her bodyguard. True story.) So, without further ado, here’s our collection of recommendations from some of our most favorite Instagrammers.

For a room with a view: Hotel Belmond Splendido

Recommended by: stylist Gala Borzova

“I was afraid to wake up in Moscow the next morning my last night there, lying on the mint sheets and listening to the sounds of cicadas from our window overlooking all the boats.”

For the freshest pasta: Restaurant Strainer

Recommended by: Alyssa Campanella, former Miss USA

“Dinner was the real star of the visit. Our hotel was kind enough to arrange dinner reservations at Restaurant Strainer at the other end of the bay with a gorgeous view of Portofino at dusk. I relied on TripAdvisor a lot during our Italian honeymoon, and this restaurant had high reviews based on one special dish – their truffle pasta. Freshly made pasta is tossed around a Parmesan cheese wheel to get it nice and cheesy before being plated. Then, a fresh black winter truffle is shaved on top along with fresh black pepper and voila, you have my favorite pasta dish from our trip!”

For a traditional, local, and charming meal: Ristorante Puny

Recommended by: Chic Weddings in Italy

The most traditional restaurant on the Piazza. The owner (wearing a pink shirt), Mr Puny, still oversees everything with the care of a past era and takes the time to personally clean your fish before it is served.”

For a superior scoop: Gelateria Bar San Giorgio

Recommended by: Kourtney Kardashian (via her feed)

“17:00 every day.”

For those with an attention to detail: Church of San Giorgio

Recommended by: Jessica Wang, fashion influencer

“Just about every city in Italy has its iconic church— and this one is it for Portofino. It’s simple but charming, especially the details in the door. It also overlooks the Portofino harbor giving you two gorgeous vantage points. Really worth seeing IMO.”
