360° of the First-Ever Panorma Festival: Who To See

Seems like right now everyone’s talking about Panorama, the New York-based festival launching in the Big Apple this weekend with a roster that’s as impressive for its interactive tech as its music. Well, everyone’s talking except for Panorama itself. And considering it’s organized by the team behind Coachella, that makes it all the more intriguing. The promoter of both festivals, Paul Tollett, recently told the NY Times, “We’re just throwing it out there and letting people experience it…. We have some things that we’re bringing in that are really going to turn heads, like the technology.” Referring to Emilie Baltz’s (more on her below), he said, “People are going to see that and think, ‘I want to see that each year.'”

Chances are you’re pretty familiar with the musical acts already, which include FKA twigs, Major Lazer, Kendrick Lamar, LCD, A$AP, and Sia. So we’re more curious about the technology.

Everything’s going down in a dome-shaped hub called The Lab curated by interactive collective Meta.is. Its slogan is “the art of being there,” and it comes to life in The Lab’s virtual reality theater of seven completely exclusive site-specific installations. Each is unique and incredibly Instagrammable.

Here, meet the four creatives whose work will be filling your feeds this weekend.
