It’s hard to determine the true winner of the 2017th Annual Holiday Card Games: Celebrity Edition. Is it the Kardashian-Jenners, worthy contenders of the last decade, who posted 25 days’ worth of holiday cards? Is it Kylie Jenner, for successfully avoiding said photoshoot? Is it Allison Williams and husband, who hired a fake Santa for their film-themed card (complete with fake media praise)? Is it Kevin Hart’s brood, who doctored their holiday card to look like a film poster that would probably bank $100 million domestically?
In fact, it is none of these. The real winner of 2017’s holiday card game is Simply To Impress.
If the name sounds familiar, here’s why: You’ve seen them all over Instagram. At first it felt like a conspiracy theory. Every other celebrity holiday card post appeared identical; shot from the same angle, emblazoned in swirling, metallic script. In reality, though, it was a well-marketed, celeb-fueled campaign of family cards, with everyone from Jenny Mollen and Jason Biggs’ family to the Steph and Ayesha Curry dynasty participating in #sponsored posts. Check out our picks for the best ones below during this glorious time between Christmas and New Year’s while your out-of-office reply is still up.
