You’re About to do Black Friday All Wrong

At the risk of sounding like a hypebeast, we’ll just come out and say it: Black Friday has become virtually obsolete in 2018. Why risk getting trampled in line for a TV at Best Buy when you could shop from the comfort of your own bed? Why fight off a dozen other shoppers for your size when you could save your elbows the energy by using just your thumbs? Further underscoring our point, last Thursday Instagram rolled out upgraded shopping features in advance of Black Friday and Cyber Monday. With the new update, Instagrammers can save shopable items to a new bookmarked collection for later browsing, or to prep for Cyber Monday. Meaning you can assemble your holiday shopping list just like you would your #inspirationalquotes collection. All you have to do is this:

  1. Click the shopping icon in the bottom left corner on a participating retailer’s account.
  2. Click the arrow on the corresponding product of your choice. (It’s on the right-hand side.)
  3. Click the bookmark bar on the right to save to your shopping collection.

For instance, let’s say you wanted to price-shop scarves, that quintessential “we’re-not-friends-but-I-have-to-formally-acknowledge-you” gift of choice. Here’s what your cart might look like if you too shopped from bed using just your opposable thumbs and some five minutes of sustained attention.

We’re making it even easier to shop Black Friday with these five promos you might as well cash in on before they’re sold out.
